The Small Stone

Is any ripple of water greater than another? Even a small stone makes a swell in the water It is not I that should ponder its rings and route But thank God that the stone has been cast out. - CKSharpe

Tottie Duck's Get Your Quack On Bakery

Unusual is usual in Duck Town. Most of the ducks in town waddled when they walked. But not Tottie Duck’s tush. It waddled when she quacked. The way her tush waddled was Tottie’s unusual, usual thing.

“Jingle, Jingle.” The bell rang on the Get Your Quack On Bakery door. Webby Vanderquack and her duckling, Sunny Ducky, waddled into the store.

“Good morning,” said Tottie.

“What a grand day,” said Webby. “Is my cookie order ready?”

Webby took a deep smell of the flowers fixed on her chest feathers. Smelling flowers was her unusual, usual thing.

Tottie sat Webby’s box of quacker cookies on the display case.

“Your quacker cookies are delicious! You must tell me. What is the secret to these good cookies?”

Tottie grinned. “You know the directions have passed from hen to duckling for ages. One item in them has always been a secret!”

“I know,” Webby said with a laugh. “But, maybe one day you will tell me the secret.”

“Maybe,” Tottie said. She leaned over the bakery counter.

“Enjoy the cookies, Ducky. I put an extra purple dot in the bag for you.”

The little duckling whistled goodbye to Tottie. Whistling instead of quacking was Sunny Ducky’s unusual, usual thing.
